Guests include: Marty Friedman Tony MacAlpine Chris Poland Ihsahn JEFF LOOMIS’ complex shredding has been a central part of the progressive but powerful & thrashy edge often attributed to Nevermore’s trademark sound since the band’s formation in 92. As the band’s lone permanent guitarist, he’s been responsible for some of the most awe-inspiring riffs modern metal has ever heard. Taking the classic techniques he learned from listening to legends like Jason Becker & Yngwie Malmsteen as a teen & applying his own ingenuity, Loomis has carved his own niche & created an instantly recognizable style. With most in Nevermore taking a rare & much-deserved break, Loomis finally had the opportunity to hit the studio himself & the outcome is nothing short of remarkable. This CD is absolutely incredible. It delves into classic riffs while giving the listener something completely new. One thing that\'s certainly not missing from these tracks is emotion. You can just feel this music from beginning to end. I was a little iffy about vocals on a guitar record but I think now that this would make a great springboard into whatever Loomis decides to do next, not to mention a break from all the killer guitar work, making this album accessible to anyone who likes heavy music. Besides, the guitar work in the vocal tracks is just as good as in the rest of the album. For those who were a little pissed at Jeff having to back off on the last Nevermore record to make room for vocals, he sure as **** makes up for it here! Track Listing: 1. Mercurial 5:31 2.
